CBD Cross-cutting issues
Economics, Trade and Incentive Measures.
- Article 11 of the CBD requires Contracting Parties to adopt economically and socially sound measures that act as incentives for the conservation and sustainable use of components of biological diversity. CoP3 invited Contracting Parties to share experiences on incentive measures and make relevant case studies available to the Secretariat, while CoP4 further encouraged Parties to prepare case studies on incentive measures for CoP5. Work undertaken since CoP5 has focused on establishing a programme of work intended to promote the development and implementation of social, economic and legal incentive measures.
